Neutron Bomb
A small thermonuclear weapon designed to maximize neutron radiation output relative to blast and thermal effects.
Also called an "enhanced radiation weapon," a neutron bomb releases a much larger share of its energy as prompt radiation, about 40% compared with about 5% for a fission weapon. [1] This radiation kills biological targets without destroying buildings. Originally conceived as a battlefield anti-tank weapon, the W70-3 neutron warhead was produced from 1981 and retired in 1992.
